Teen skin requires a different type of skincare even if it is less complicated than adult skin is. Young skin has the plumpness and bounce that many adults are trying to achieve for themselves, too. However, teen skin is also sensitive, requiring very careful attention and care. For help, check out the following tips for teen skin.
Teen Skincare Tips 101
In the following, we’ll discuss ways on how to take care of teen skin to keep it healthy and smooth.
- Start with the sunscreen. It is the very basic step in skincare. If you’re a teenager, you should use a good one that will help you prevent nasty burns and premature skin aging. Don’t go out exposing your skin under the sun without applying sunscreen protection, ideally one with SPF 30 and with broad-spectrum coverage to protect skin from both the UVA and UVB rays.
- Wash your skin twice a day, not more than that. For teens with regular and normal skin, breakouts are not much of a problem provided they wash their face using a mild and nourishing cleanser for teens.
- For teens with dry skin, they should use only gentle scrub that has a cleanser once a day. After cleansing, they should apply nourishing moisturizer for teen.
- Do not use body soap for your face, which is more sensitive than the skin in other parts of your body are. If possible, you might want to go for a foaming cleanser. It is mild yet effective in keeping that natural glow without stripping off natural oils your face.
- Do not wash your face for more than twice a day. Your skin also needs natural oils to keep it moisturized and healthy. Overwashing rids of essential oils, so avoid it like a plague.
- If you love wearing makeup, make sure that it is minimal and that you use only gentle makeup, or better yet organic cosmetics. Before going to bed, be sure to get rid of the makeup on your face. It is one of the most effective tips that you must keep in mind even when you’re a grownup.
- If you have oily skin, you should wash your face three times a day using a mild soap and water. Alternatively, you might also want to use a cleansing pad that also eliminates oiliness.
- Keep your skin hydrated! Drink at least eight glasses of water that will prevent it from getting dehydrated. Keeping skin hydrated is also one of the best ways to take care of teen skin.
- Do not miss out exfoliation. It is your skin’s best friend when it comes to getting rid of dead skin cell layers. This skincare practice is also a great help regarding minimizing pores. Do not scrub daily, though, but make sure it is done only up to twice a week.
Follow these teen skincare tips and keep your skin healthy and glowing all the time. Avoid harsh skincare products, remove makeup before bed and drink eight glasses of water, to name some, to ensure your skin remains beautiful and smooth.
