Whether you’re in your 30s, 50s or 70s, like everybody else, you want to look good. Not good for your age. Good. A lot of things that can help you achieve this goal. Good and healthy dietary supplements, chemical-free anti-aging creams, yoga,…
But celebrities go way beyond these solutions. Some of their beauty treatments are just ridiculous. They could even be disgusting.
Let’s take a look at the 7 worst, craziest things celebrities do to look younger. Get ready to cringe…
1. Jessica Simpson Fish Pedicure
Jessica Simpson was captured on camera trying out this bizarre beauty craze. The actress dangled her feet in a pool of water while tiny fish nibbled dead skin from her toes.
The fish, called garra rufa fish, or sometimes “doctor fish” nibble the dead skin from your feet for 15 to 30 minutes.
Because no plant or aquatic life can really survive in the warm water in which the they thrive, the fish have learned to eat whatever’s offered to them—including the dead skin on the bottom of your feet.
Having no teeth, they can’t remove live skin, so you don’t have to worry about being bitten. However, fish pedicures are banned in 10 U.S. states for hygiene reasons. Although no infections or illnesses from fish pedicures have yet been reported, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) lists several reasons why one should be cautious about fish pedicures.
Cost: $45-$95 per fish pedicure.
2. Kate Middleton’s Bee Venom Mask
The Duchess of Cambridge created a buzz by using a bee venom face mask before she wed her prince charming. Said to be a non-invasive alternative to botox, this mask lifts, firms and promises anti-aging skincare without the commitment of cosmetic procedures.
Honey bee venom is used cosmetically to ‘fool’ the skin into thinking it has been lightly stung with the toxin melittin. This causes the body to direct blood towards the area and stimulates the production of the naturally-occurring chemicals collagen and elastin.
Bee Venom moisturizer is an advanced formula that revitalizes and renews, giving naturally younger looking skin. It works in synergy with a unique complex of plant stem cells to help visibly improve skin tone and elasticity.
Cost: $200 per jar.
3. Victoria Beckham’s Bird Poo Facials
Victoria Beckham is a big fan of Japanese nightingale facials which use dehydrated bird poo to brighten the complexion and reduce the appearance of acne.
Japanese Nightingale’s intestines are very short making its guanine content very concentrated, unadulterated and unique among birds. Guanine is an amino acid that gives glowing, iridescent effect when used on the human skin. It is the same amino acid responsible for the glowing effect we see on fish scales and pearls. Factors such as stress, diseases, sedentary lifestyle and aging seem to decrease the levels of this fundamental component of the human DNA at the cellular level.
Researchers point out that the human skin loses guanine as we age. Replenishing the skin cells with an external source of guanine is proven to reverse signs and symptoms of skin aging and sun damage.
Japanese Nightingale bird feces are also very rich in urea, known in the cosmetics world for its moisture locking properties. Urea hydrates the skin, treats and prevents wrinkles.
Cost: $180 per facial.
4. Jennifer Lopez’s Placenta Facials
Lo is desperate to slow the process of aging and swears by the expensive placenta collagen masks reporting that they rejuvenate her skin and keep her looking fresh and youthful.
According to cosmetologists and dermatologists, placenta facials–or a beauty treatment using placenta extracts—could help rejuvenate your skin and remove pigmentation.
“Placenta is full of nutrients, minerals, amino acids and proteins. The nutritional extracts heal skin by treating acne, rosacea, dull skin and signs of aging. Some skin experts employ stem cells from sheep placenta while others prefer the protein-rich extract from human placenta in the form of a serum.” Cosmetologist Dr Jaishree Manchanda
“This treatment promotes the growth of collagen and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It improves the texture of the skin and lessens pigmentation and scars.” Dr Nerurkar
“The rich placental extract contains an abundance of stem cells, vitamins, growth factors and enzymes, which help the body and skin to heal and repair itself.” Dermatologist Dr Geeta Oberoi
Cost: $500 per treatment.
5. Katie Holmes’s Snail Slime Skin Care
The French eat snails, Hollywood actors smear them on their skin. Katie Holmes discovered that snail slime skin care products smooth and regenerate damaged tissue leaving her with soft, glowing skin.
Snail slime (or its cosmetic name, snail filtrate) is packed with nutrients such as hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein, proteoglycans, and antimicrobial and copper peptides, all of which are proven to be beneficial for the skin. These elements help to protect the snail’s skin from damage, infection, dryness and UV rays.
Snail mucin is best known for its anti-aging properties. 6. Demi Moore’s Blood-Sucking Leech Therapy
Demi Moore really goes to the extreme when it comes to her looks: First, shave your body. Then immerse yourself in turpentine. When the stinging stops, allow leeches to feast on your blood. It sounds like a particularly refined form of torture. But Demi Moore swears by it, as a way of looking healthy and far younger than her 53 years.
“I was in Austria doing a cleanse and part of the treatment was leech therapy. These aren’t just swamp leeches though–we are talking about highly trained medical leeches, high-level blood suckers.”
The leeches have a little enzyme that gets released in your blood when they bite down in you.
“It crawls in and you feel it bite down on you. Then you relax and work on your breathing. You watch it swell up on your blood, get fatter and fatter – then when it’s super drunk on your blood it just kind of rolls over like it’s stumbling out of the bar.”

The area is overfilled by 20% so that you can see an approximation of the final results.
Within about a day, the excess is gone. Several weeks later, the fibrin matrix builds up, yielding the final result. The effects can last up to 3 years.
Cost: between $1,500 and $2,500 per injection.
