Forty seems like an old age for many, but it is actually not. As they say, age is just a number. And after all, they would not even guess your actual age by taking care of your skin.  You don’t need cosmetics to do it because you can use natural ways on how to keep that radiant, wrinkle-free face.

How to Maintain Healthy Skin

Check out the following for tips on how to keep your skin healthy in your 40s and slow down the signs of aging on your face.

Eat healthy

Even in your age, you have to eat a healthy-balanced meal. The nutrients you get from your foods will reflect on your skin – its glow and tone. And when you eat unhealthy food, you will notice its effects on skin –dryness, dullness.

Protect your skin from the sun

Too much sun exposure can be harmful to your skin. It may bring skin problems, as well as age spots and wrinkles. Use sunscreen that has at least 15 SPF.

Most products, such as moisturizer have already sunscreen, so all you need to do is see how much of it they contain. Make sure also to use sunscreen when going at the beach during the day. Avoid the sun between 10 in the morning and four in the afternoon because the sunrays are the strongest within this period of time.

Cleanse your skin right

Wash your face with warm water in the morning to prepare for the moisturizers and all cosmetics you will put on it. Clean off the cosmetics and all the things that you have applied on your face at night. You can first use a make-up remover, your favorite cleanser, and then warm water.  Removing makeup, you will also be removing the dirt and toxins that your skin has accumulated during the day.

Be gentle on your skin

Use warm water instead of hot or cold one. Hot or cold water may reduce the oil that your skin has. If you are shaving, make sure to apply a cream, gel or lotion before doing it. Dry your skin with soft towel. If your skin is dry, try using a moisturizer. Make sure to apply a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type. And it has to have SPF for sun protection.

Do not smoke

Smoking contributes more wrinkles on your skin, making it look older. It also tightens little blood vessels in the outermost part of your skin. It lessens blood flow, reduces oxygen and nutrients, and makes your skin paler. Smoking even damages the elastic fibers, specifically collagen and elastin that are responsible for your skin elasticity and strength.

Sleep well

Get enough sleep. Sleeping will give your skin the time to repair itself. There would be good flow of nutrients in your body with quality sleep, and it will make you less stressed in the day even with a lot of work.  Stress triggers acne breakout, as well as skin problems. Good sleep means less stress, less frowning and a healthy skin.

Again, age is just a number. You can still look young with healthy skin that glows and feels tight. Take care of your skin using these tips shared above and notice the big difference.
